The Hole

As I gaze within this hole
where everything in life must go
I wonder if there lies a soul?

From this dust where all was
made. Tilled over for answer's
with life's spade.

For all eternity we spend
looking for questions without an end.
all our lives we toil, only to
return to soil.

Looking back from the path we came;
did we ever change, or even gain
knowledge along life's way?

By passing wisdom to those we love,
will we attain a reward from above?
